Do I sing that badly?

Mommy singing Greater by Mercy Me in the car

Jacey: Mommy?

Mommy: Yes?

Jacey: I just want to listen to the song.

Translation: Mommy, stop singing now.

Jokester

Tatum is reading (or had read?) a sports-themed joke book.

Periodically, she'll tell us jokes that she recalls from this book.

Tatum:  What do you call a ghost cheerleader?

The team spirit!!

TAMU Good Bull police

Today was College Colors Day.

In our house, that means Aggie Maroon, of course.

When I picked up Jacey from daycare, she was fired up about clothing.  It was quite entertaining.

Jacey: Some moms did not let their kids were Aggie shirts today.

Me: Really?

Jacey:  Yes.  So-and-so's mom did not let her wear an Aggie shirt.

Me: Hmmmm...

Jacey:  I am SO MAD at so-and-so's mommy for not letting her wear an Aggie shirt today!

The girl takes her Aggie clothes seriously, y'all.

Sweet dreams

Jacey:  Good morning, Mommy!!  Did you have good dreams?

Me: Hmmm??

Jacey:  Did you dream about ME??  (smiling sweetly)

Life with a 3-year old

Daddy: We need to get a new calculator

Me (pondering what our now 5th grader is doing in math that might necessitate the need for a more intensive calculator....): What kind of calculator?

Daddy: One that hasn't been in the toilet.

Oh such is life with a rambunctious 3-year old!

Perry

Just had an interesting conversation with my 3-year old about Perry the platypus.

Traps.....hats.....She is a crack up!

I think it may have been a rouse to delay bedtime, but tonight, I'll take it.

Crazy hair day!

It was crazy hair day at school.

So Tatum left looking like this....

(front)

(back)

Jacey, on the other hand, barely wanted me to comb her hair out this morning.  Oh well!

Poop & tubs do NOT mix well......

Why does it seem like the nights that go horribly wrong are the ones when I'm currently flying solo or are awaiting Daddy to get home?

I mean....the ONLY other night I can remember when Jacey decided to give us a 'floater' in the tub (when she was bathing with her sister, mind you) was a night that Daddy wasn't home yet.

Until tonight.

Not cool, Jacey.  Not cool.

Luckily, she was by herself this time (I'm not sure Tatum has recovered from that trauma).

Looking for a silver lining........the kids bathroom will get a very good cleaning tonight!

Birthday cakes for certain celebrations for the weekend will have to wait.....

Who knew?

Who knew that the person who could make Jacey laugh quicker and harder than anyone else was her brother?

Who knew saying, "Hi!" was this hilarious?

I love, love, love watching Kellen with his sisters.  And yes, that's plural.  He is such a good big brother.

If watching this doesn't make you crack up, I'm not sure what will.

Man I love my kids!

Perspective

Mommy is poised, lip pencil in hand, to apply her make up to her lips.

Son, watching her, says, "Mommy, why are you going to write on your lips?"

Mommy laughs, says, "I'm not sure," laughs again, and then replies, "It's to make Mommy's lips prettier."

Son's response, "Well that's just weird."

Conversations with Kellen are quite entertaining sometimes.

Hapes Hilarity

Kellen says to me as I'm dressed in black pants and a yellow shirt (with a black belt), "You look like a bumblebee."

As Matt and I dissolve in laughter, he pauses and then asks, "What, was it something I said?"

Rockbox

So I discussed the Rockbox in an earlier post about our anniversary weekend getaway, but I wanted to display some of our photos from that show.

Let me once again reiterate how incredibly fun that night was!

Still as goofy as ever!

 Roy Orbison...

Bette Midler...

ZZ Top...Santa style

The English Brothers (who were the guest performers for the night).  They sang Cowboy Christmas songs and we loved them so much that Matt ended up getting an early Christmas present...they were selling their CD's!

I'm so glad that we were able to go to this show!  Thank you, Matt's friend, for getting us the passes!!

I'm not THAT old!

Kellen, "I'm not sure if they taught you this back when you were in school, but decreasing means that you subtract."

Me: "Yes, honey. They taught me that in school.  The big difference between what you're learning and what I learned is that when I was in school, Pluto was a planet."

Silly songs...

'Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream. When you see a crocodile, don't forget to row faster.' - Tatum, as sung during her bath last night.

Yes, my kids are hilarious!

Sunday, January 03, 2010

I know no one.

According to Tatum, that is.  She's watching Yo Gabba Gabba, and has repeatedly asked me, "Who is that?"  My continual response, "I don't know, baby."

The last time she asked, and I responded in my usual way, she retorted in an exasperated manner and stated, "You don't know ANYONE, Mommy!"

Cinderella

Is Tatum's favorite movie.  During our mommy-daughter afternoon yesterday, we watched it twice.  We're watching it again now while she's having her lunch snack before nap.

Some observations:

Tatum: That cat is NOT nice.  But the doggy is nice.  But not the cat.  He's a MEAN cat.

Tatum: I want to help fix Cinderella's dress.
Me: Sweetie, I don't think that you can.
Tatum: 'Cause I'm not in the movie, huh?

Quotable quotes

'Cause I think my kids are that funny, interesting and sometimes say the darndest things....

"Life is good." - Kellen, as said to me on our way to church this morning.  This was after detailing the beautiful day outside, the fact that we hadn't been outside playing in our backyard on our swingset much lately because of all of the rain.  Why did it have to rain so much Mommy, 'cause it had been raining for like a thousand years or something.

"Darn-it [emphasized by slamming both fists on the table], I am NOT naughty!" - Tatum, at lunchtime today while not sitting as she was supposed to be.  Sidenote:  Mommy had not actually called her naughty.

And I'm not sure why I can't think of additional ones, because they consistently crack me up at every turn.  I MUST find ways to document them better, because they're pricess, and my memory does not remember everything it hears....it simply remembers something funny was said, and if you're lucky, it might remember the topic of the funny comment.

Kids say the darndest things

And mine are no exception.

Today when I picked Tatum up and we were leaving her school, she stopped at the front desk to say, 'Bye' to her director, Ms. Nazneen.  After talking with her for a moment, Tatum asks, 'Are you brown?'

I laughed, put my hand over my mouth, and just looked at Tatum and Nazneen, who is, in fact Indian.

Nazneen just laughed, looked at me, and remarked, "You're going to have to get earmuffs, because that's just the type of child she is!"

My response was a very articulate, "Well...."

Nazneed turned and answered Tatum laughing, "Yes, Tatum.  I AM brown!"

Everyone in earshot of that particular conversation probably got an ab workout as well.

At least we know she speaks the truth!
